Pilgrimage 1895

1895. The first pilgrimage procession since the Dissolution, leaving the railway station. Around 1500 people processed to the top of the Tor and then down to the Tor House for tea.

Aerial view of Tor House, Chilkwell street. From 1886 this contained a Roman Catholic chapel and housed around 50 boys training to be priests.
